Abstrak

ABSTRAK:

Tujuan pembangunan suatu daerah pada dasarnya untuk meningkatkan taraf hidup dan kesejahteraan rakyat melalui pembangunan yang serasi antar sektor. Sektor pariwisata diyakini merupakan salah satu sektor yang mampu berperan untuk mewujudkan tujuan tersebut. Kabupaten Demak yang mempunyai dua aset sektor pariwisata budaya (religi) yaitu Masjid Agung Demak dan Makan Sunan Kalijaga Kadilangu Demak menjadikan sektor tersebut sebagai salah satu sektor unggulan untuk meningkatkan dan mengembangkan perekonomian daerahnya.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran pariwisata khususnya wisata budaya dalam mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi masyarakat lokal di Kabupaten Demak serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhinya. Adapun sasaran penelitian ini adalah teridentifikasinya peran sektor pariwisata dalam mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi masyarakat lokal, teridentifikasinya faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi peran pariwisata dalam mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi masyarakat lokal dan terumuskannya arahan pengembangan pariwisata untuk dapat mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi masyarakat lokal.

Metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif dengan melakukan pengumpulan data primer dan sekunder yang meliputi wisatawan, pemilik usaha pelayanan, masyarakat di sekitar lokasi dan instansi pemerintah terkait, sedangkan metode analisa yang dipakai adalah metode analisis tabulasi data dan analisis kualitatif. Kriteria peran yang dikaji meliputi : (1) Kemampuan pariwisata dalam menciptakan efek multiplier dan (2) Kemampuan Jenis Usaha pelayanan. Adapun faktor-faktor yang dikaji adalah : (1) Profil wisatawan dan tingkat pemenuhan kebutuhannya, (2) Kualitas dan sikap masyarakat lokal dan (3) Ketersediaan sarana prasarana pendukung.

Hasil pengkajian terhadap peran pariwisata menunjukkan bahwa bahwa pariwisata mempunyai peranan dalam mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi masyarakat lokal di Kabupaten Demak kalau dari kepemilikan usaha pariwisata dan penyerapan tenaga kerja. Namun secara keseluruhan peran pariwisata tersebut belum cukup berarti kalau dilihat dari besarya pasokan barang non lokal serta tingkat pendapatan pemilik usaha pelayanan yang relatif kecil. Faktor pengaruh yang dominan adalah segmen pasar wisatawan. Dalam upaya mengembangkan potensi wisata selayaknya juga memperhatikan keberadaan pelaku dan pemilik usaha pelayanan khususnya dari masyarakat lokal sehingga usahanya bisa lebih berkembang, selain itu juga tetap menjaga kelangsungan acara-acara budaya yang dapat dijadikan momen oleh masyarakat untuk menangkap peluang usaha.

ABSTRACT:

The aim of development of an area is basically to increase the level and welfare of the people through a harmonious development among sectors. The tourism sector is believed to be one of the sectors which is capable to play a role to actualize the ai, mentioned. Demak Regency has 2 assets of cultural tourism sector (religious) namely the Great Mosque of Demak and the Grave of Sunan Kalijaga Kadilangu Demak, thus causing this sector to be one of the prime sectors to increase and develop its regional economy.

The research is aimed at studying the role of tourism especially cultural tour in boosting the economic growth of the local people in Demak Regency as well as the factors influencing it. While the target of research is the identifying of the role of tourism sector in boosting the economic growth of the local people, the identifying of factors influencing the role of tourism in boosting the economic growth of the local people and the formulating of guidance of tourism development in order to boost the economic growth of the local people.

The methodology used in this research was a descriptive method by collecting primary and secondary data consisting of tourists, owner service business, people a round the location and related government institution analysis method and qualitative analysis. The criteria of role studied covered: (1) the ability of tourism increasing multiplier effect and (2) the ability of the type of service business, while the factors studied were: (1) tourist profile and the level of need fulfillment, (2) quality and attitude of the local people and

(3) the availability of supporting infrastructure.

The result of the study towards the role of tourism showed that tourism has a role in boosting the economic growth of the local people in Demak regency from the aspect of ownership of tourism business and the absorption of workforce. However, in general, the role of tourism has not been significant when observed from the number of non-local goods supply, also the level of income of service business owners which is relatively small. The dominant influential factor is tourist market segment. In the effort to improve tourism potential, ideally, the condition of owners and people involved in the service business should also be considered so that the business may be able to develop more. Besides that, it can also maintain the existence of cultural events which may become moments for the people to catch business opportunities.
